Basic action list for getting started:

  • Remove all junk and processed food from your home or eat it mostly for the last time. This isn’t a life-long deprivation plan to never eat a bag of processed chips again or a piece of candy. There is football season and the holidays after all. This is about breaking the processed food habit. This author just had a Wendy’s burger the other day, and I am still walking around.
  • Make a list of your favorite single ingredient foods.
  • Develop and experiment with an eating plan that helps you feel your best. Consult a Dietician for feedback, if necessary. Do research and experiment further with the food and eating patterns that help you feel your best. Slowly start to change your behaviors to reflect any progress with your experiments. Do you feel better with a big breakfast? A small one? No breakfast? Supplementation beyond a daily multivitamin might be beneficial (a protein shake?). To do this correctly requires a lot of work and self-awareness.
  • Start (or keep) exercising. Start the experiment with exercise and what will work best for you and will allow for consistency. Consult the appropriate professionals and keep researching and experimenting. There is a great deal of new information out there on how exercise is the single greatest determinant of your “healthspan”. What series of exercises gives you the best results for the time spent?
  • Be patient. This is a lot of work. Focus on consistency. We have known many people who could not enjoy their relative wealth due to poor health habits. Health is wealth.
