Dr. Hadas-Rebecca Youman

Born 11. of May 1960 in Austria I came to the USA on an Art scholarship and was able to attend the Herron s school of Art in Indianapolis for one semester. I participated in a Jewelry Art competition and won the Ayer s Arts award for the first pice of Jewelry I ever created. Moving to California I enrolled in the Arts program of Moorpark College and took advantage of the possibility to learn print making. There is a saying in Judaism :" You plan and God laughs". Needles to say my Plans to continue to study Art fell short. However not my love for Art nor my desire to Create From an early age I knew nothing gives me as much pleasure than creating Art. Art is an obsession with life. All my personal experience and travels got translated into Art. Everything from the food I ate, Epmusic I heard, interpersonal experience, cities, landscapes and other Artists continuously influenced and still influence my work. My Art is always a mirror of that, wether I explored the Bronx in NYC or Jerusalem in Israel, Santorini, the Music of Leonard Cohen.....I had to create Art. My styles and media changed depending on my living space, money I had, tools that were at hand. A lot of times my Art is confined to a much smaller space on canvas, exploding out of the given frame. I hope that one day I will have the space and money to create on a scale | desire. It would make an enormous difference as well. Lately I created a number of small pen and ink pieces. Infinite possibilities reduced to lines and minimal color. The bare essentials it seems on the other hand a vast possibility of the spectator to go on a journey. A much more delicate journey than my bold paintings. My intention is the same to bring joy and to celebrate life.

    Artist Statement

As an Artist I work in different media from big bold colorful Acrylic paintings on Canvas to celebrate the joy and exuberance of life to my most recent work I would love to show. A minimal series created during the pandemic, pen and ink on paper with minimal color. A very big contrast to my previous work.As the pandemic hit, and some of my friends died unexpectedly, and my worries about my aging parents grew, I wanted to create a more delicate Art. Reflecting on the very essence of life. So I used the line. A Line on paper drawn with ink is unforgiving. No mistakes can be made. No corrections can be made. It takes not only precision but it is also a reflection of year long practice to put it seemingly effortless on paper. The results of my minimal work speaks for itself. Delicate lines, elegant,music I heard, interpersonal experience, cities, landscapes and other Artists continuously influenced and still influence my work. My intention is the same to bring joy and to celebrate.

My drawings are small and intimate in their original size. This requires the beholder to take a closer look and let himself be drawn into the Art. Delicate intricate lines , elegant, purposeful and dynamic , do not allow for mistakes. A line is unforgiving. What looks light and effortless is the result of yearlong practice.

Every picture tells a story . Sometimes with tiny floral elements representing Hope. Sometimes energetic lines who seem to dance on the surface. Some seem to be growing before your very eyes. The colors are sparingly chosen but carefully placed to further tell the story.

All my Art is joyful and playful. Focusing on the positive aspects of life. In my section Special Orders you can experience music translated into colors and lines. One can feel the difference in style and movement.

Paying tribute to the Musician who created the songs and rhythms. If you listen to the music and let yourself be drawn into the Art you will feel the energy and beauty and joy . You will appreciate the visual and auditory experience coming together in a beautiful way.

If you look at the word section you will experience the rhythm of the word. In the word Freedom for example, one can almost feel the overwhelming infinite choices one has when truly free, pulling you in different directions. In Kindness it ends up in a heart shape suggesting that kindness and love are always intertwined.

Your name also has a special rhythm and energy and can also be translated into a beautiful pice of Art.

Even though my original Art is small in size in comparison to my exuberant paintings they are still very powerful. You can choose oversized frames , Passepartout options to your own liking, or just the right size ones if you want to enjoy the original intimacy.

However I also offer Prints in larger sizes , for people preferring Canvas Prints they are also possible to be purchased. Please note however that shipping costs will increase.
