Prevent your makeup from looking cakey

We often wonder why our makeup doesn't look right. This is due to multiple factors such as not having a facial routine that meets the needs of our skin or simply not exfoliating or moisturizing our face properly. It is for these and other reasons that the finish often has a cardboard appearance when applying foundation to the face, a situation that can be quite uncomfortable when we realize it.

Why does the skin look cardboardy?

Cardboard skin is usually dry skin that shows a peeling texture on the face, either due to a lack of moisture or simply because your skin is this way. Taking care of your face by applying products that contain oils benefits its appearance. To make your face look healthy, I recommend moisturizing with a light cream during the day and moisturizing at night, since this way the skin is regenerating while you sleep and you get more benefit

What should you do to avoid a cakey makeup look?

If you want to prevent your foundation from becoming a real headache, I'll tell you what you should do.

  • The first thing you should do is clean your face twice a day and remove all dead cells by exfoliating at least once a week with products containing AHAs (alpha hydroxy acids).
  • Do not mix water-based products with oil-based ones
  • Avoid excess powder products, especially if you have mature skin.
  • Hydrate or moisturize your skin depending on the care it needs.
  • Apply a primer before applying makeup, this will prepare your skin before you apply any foundation.

And by the way, never forget to apply your sunscreen during the day, even if you are not going to leave the house.
